Every year AIGA organizes a week of design events in San Francisco. Talks, tours and workshops fill the week and visitors are invited to the workspaces of design studios across the city. I particpated in and helped organize events for Design Week 2016 and 2017.
The first event was a studio tour featuring a custom built 360-degree photobooth. I moderated the second event—a panel discussion around ways designers and developers could work together to improve collaboration during the product development process.
With 15 different design studios available to tour, studio crawl days can be a bit overwhelming. I wanted to make a visit to our space memorable. We had recently completed Tiny Eye and still had some resources left over from that project, most importantly the 360 degree camera. Using the camera, lights, and white canvas tarps, I built out a 360 degree photobooth that visitors could play and interact with. Click and drag to fully explore the 360 degree images below.
